Mr. Shad DeMill, Miss Liza Edgell, Miss Sam Madej, Cherie Sadowski, Sam Avery, Mike Sax, Elysia Forsgren, Joshua Allen, Breanne Coccimiglio. Betsy Crowther, Mr. Nicholas Heinz, and Mr. Nicholas Lennox were present for part of the meeting.
Approval of Minutes
Cherie Sadowski motion to approve August minutes. Breanne Coccimiglio second. All present voted in favor.
Minutes
Welcome. Time turned to Mr. Heinz to discuss Digital Citizenship of the students. These tools are only as effective as understood and utilized. Within the school walls Content Keeper is utilized as a preventative measure to protect the children from accessing content deemed inappropriate. The educator can see if a student is on a laptop, but not on Content Keeper. Lan school air is an application for everyone to see each other’s screens. To limit Google searches Canvas and Cleaver are available for educators to add information pertaining to their lessons.
Safe walking routes were discussed. Mr. DeMill will send an email reminder will go out as a reminder to park on the west side of Quail Hollow Dr, and to cross only at crosswalks.
Positive Behavior plan presented to the Council. The Canyons School District is developing a program to be rolled out in the 2022-2023 school year. In the interim Mr. Lennox has worked with teachers on a Tier 1 level to make sure all educators and students have the same vocabulary for emotional regulation. This information comes from the book Zones of Regulation by Leah M. Kuypers. These zones work for all ages.
Review of assessments of the students grade by grade, for the beginning of the year.
Sub Committee for educator recognition program, HERO. Reminder no monetary tax-deductible donations can be accepted. This award will be presented to two teachers and one staff member three times a year. Reminder to add this program to the positive behavior support for student and staff budget.
Issues seen in the school. Dogs on leashes and availability of bags for fecal matter.
Motion to adjourn was made at 9:05 a.m. and was passed unanimously.
