Minutes

Welcome: Sam Avery

Minutes from the October meeting were approved through email review and posted to the website.

Mr. DeMill indicated the district will be updating signage for schools regarding dogs to address animal waste which is expected sometime in spring.

The council discussed the current year’s LAND Trust. The plan and expenditures are on going and being used according to the plan. No amendments are requested.

The School Safety report and digital citizenship report were drafted by Mr. DeMill and reviewed by the council. Following minor edits from the council, Dr. DeMill will submit the report ahead of the December 15th deadline.

The parent wellness night was discussed, and the council decided to have it be a parent-only event. Wellness night is scheduled for the evening of January 31, 2023. A professional resource is still being identified and Mike will work to secure an individual to host the evening. A flier will be sent home with the students as well as being sent electronically via Parent Square.

The council also reviewed the Safe Routes (SNAP) plan. It was noted some crossing guards have indicated salt at the crosswalks could help mitigate ice and slippery spots. It was also noted that the sidewalk curbs at street crossings on Golden Eye Drive and Teal Way are not cut-away making it difficult for strollers and students on wheels (bikes, scooter, etc.) to cross easily. Mr. DeMill will look into how sidewalks on the safe walking routes and at the schools are maintained and provide an update at the next SCC meeting, ahead of the Safe Routes plan due date of January 14, 2023.

Three HERO Award winners were selected from parent nominations and include Mrs. Gregory, Angela Jackman and Mrs. Day. Awards will be presented to the winners on Monday, November 21 when all the winners will be present.  A reminder to submit additional nominations will be sent to parents via Parent Square following parent-teacher conferences. It was also recommended that all staff members who received a nomination during the year receive a card with the comments listed so those nominated receive positive feedback.

A motion to cancel the December 14th meeting by Cherie, seconded by Sam Avery, passed.

Motion to adjourn at 8:35am by Sam Avery, seconded by Mike, passed.
