SCC Meeting Minutes

Opening:

The regular meeting of Quail Hollow Elementary School Community Council was called to order at 8:00 am November 21, 2023 in the Quail Hollow Elementary School conference room by Chair Mike Sax.

The agenda was unanimously approved as distributed.

  1. Open Issues
  • Land trust information-no new updates
  • School Electronic Device Policy-reviewed school policy on electronic devices. No updates today.
  • White Ribbon Week-no updates today
  • Hero Award-Mr. Demill sent out request for nominations. Breanne and Elyshia will review nominations and announce them after the break.
  • Wellness night- October 24th at 6:30 attendance was low. Next one will be on March 19th at 6:30 and have more advertising ahead of it. Flyers to put in kid’s planners, message from Mr. Demill. Possibility of having something for kids to do, like a movie, while parents listen to speakers. Topics to consider: getting rid of mental health stigma, getting sleep, screen time, etc
  • School Fall Data: Reading Inventory and math scores reviewed for grades K-5th. Mr. Demill will bring information on how we compare to other schools in the district at the next meeting. Discussion about having math facts practice available for more grades.
  • Council voted that the December meeting will be cancelled. Next meeting to be January 16th.
