Library of Quail Hollow at 7:50am

Members Present: Mr. Shad DeMill, Ms. Emily Decker, Melinda Rosevear, Cherie Sadowski, Samantha Avery, Betsy Crowther, and Pat Passey

Minutes

Welcome: Melinda Rosevear. Betsy Crowther was introduced as a new member of the SCC, replacing Chelsea Morgan. Shad will be sure our website is updated with Betsy’s information.

The minutes from our meeting on December 9, 2020, were approved online.

Our Parent Digital Workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 1, planned for both in-person and online attendees. The group Digital Respons-Ability will do a 60-90 minute presentation for us. The start time is to be announced. They recommend we acquire a few incentives to encourage parent attendance. They will also be contacted about doing a presentation for our students during Media Safety Week beginning March 14, 2022. The resource “Protect Young Eyes” will be recommended to parents during our event.

We are reviewing our TSSP and Land Trust Plans to see if our goals are being achieved. More information will be available in February after the mid-year testing of students is completed. The SCC was notified of important wording changes in our TSSP Plan. Wording that was taken out included the use of the Second Step Program to teach social emotional learning skills. That program has been removed from the Canyons District curriculum, so language referencing it will be removed also.

Mr. DeMill distributed copies of the Quail Hollow SNAP Plan to council members. We were encouraged to review it. The map was recently updated. Pat will work with Shad to clarify some of the wording on page 2.

At our February SCC meeting, we anticipate a report from Mr. Lennox and/or Ms. Akkerman regarding the Student Risk Screening Scale – IE, that was administered to some Quail Hollow students.

A county-wide mask mandate is in place now. Mr. DeMIll reported that a large majority of students and staff are wearing masks at school. About twenty exemption requests have been received at Quail Hollow.

Canyons School District is adopting a new reading/language arts program for the district. The Wonders materials are available for parents to review if they desire.

Motion to adjourn by Pat at 8:50am, second Cherie.  Passed.
