Wanted: Second-Grade Students for New Spanish Immersion Program

Are you interested in having your second-grade student immersed in learning Spanish through elementary school and beyond?

Canyons District has openings in its new Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program at Midvalley Elementary in Midvale.

The District recently held a special lottery for seats in the program, which is scheduled to start this coming fall and was approved by the Canyons Board of Education to meet growing demand for Spanish immersion classes. While interest was high, we still have a critical number of openings for students who are entering the second grade. If we don’t fill these spots, Midvalley won’t be able to staff a second-grade class.

Children from all parts of Canyons may apply, but families need to act soon in order to provide the District time to make hiring decisions and other preparations. To be considered for placement in the program, please complete the “2020-2021 Late Lottery Application” form found at this online portal by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 1.

The Summer Food program will commence with the conclusion of the emergency curbside meal service that Canyons sponsored during the COVID-19-related “soft closure” of schools. Free, nutritious sack lunches and sack breakfasts will continue to be provided to students Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Here are the dates and locations:
