• Digital Security and Safety
  • Principal Nalwalker explained the current system and his approach to technology within Quail Hollow, including the bell to bell ban on cellphones.
    • At QH STudents are being physically observed by teachers and peers
    • Question: Do subs have access to filtering and obsrervation systems? No, but Principal Nalwalker will look into that. 
    • Question: What about AI at Quail Hollow. Being used on a limited basis within Adobe. Not being used widely by all students. 
    • Secondary grades do use AI throug Magicschool. Other programs are also being looked at. 
    • Reviewed slideshow. 
    • Discussed access of accounts after school hours. 
    • Potential Vulnerabilities:
      • Sub access and training to monitor web use with LanSchool
      • Do our safeguards include managing inappropriate images made with AI?
      • Is our system capable of alerting us to use of VPNs?
      • Does our system block access to inappropriate sites that are directly entered in the address bar?
      • How are we addressing the huge gaps in safety posed by filesharing platforms?
      • What exposure do we have regarding searches within the Google platforms-slides, docs, etc.?
      • Can the white list be expansive and fluid?
    • OPTION CHOSEN: Use the White List approach, only approved sites can be accessed. Keep access at home after school hours. Strive to improve the flagging system and address loopholes.
