Wow! What a fast 4 months of school! I can’t believe we are already in 2020! I’m looking forward to a successful and fun 2020! Thank you for everyone who came to the parents sing along in December. Your students did an awesome job! You have wonderful kids! Thanks for all of your support!
Below are some items coming up at Quail Hollow in the near future.
Science Fair & Family Science Night: Our Quail Hollow Science Fair is coming up on January 14th! Please make sure your child brings in their project by 8:30am on the 14th. The projects will be judged that day. The evening of the 14th, there will be a Science Night for families from 6-8pm.Come have some science fun! There will be many fun interactive experiences for everyone, including: creating straw rockets, taking DNA out of strawberries, making root beer floats, and much more! Anyone participating has a chance of winning some cool prizes including: a Van De Graff Generator, a Cartesian diver, some Bernoulli bags and more! Family Science Night.pdf

Teacher of the Year: As you know, each year at this time we have the chance to nominate teachers who have made a difference for your child. Please take a few minutes to nominate your child’s teacher! Click the link Teacher Nomination Form. Feel free to email nominations to shad.demill@canyonsdistrict.org Or you can drop them off at the office or come in and get a hard copy of the form. Thank you for taking time to nominate a teacher!
Kindergarten Enrollment: Yes, it’s true. We are thinking of next year already!! – It’s that time. If you have a child who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2020, your child qualifies for next year’s kindergarten program. If you know of a neighbor who has a qualifying kindergartner, please have them contact our office at 801-826-9175. Digital Citizenship: Each month our teachers share a Digital Citizenship Tip with your children. I will include these tips in the monthly Quail Crossing so you can talk with your kids about what they learned. For the month of January the following was shared:
Everything you put on the internet is permanent
· Pictures, comments, videos and more will become part of your Digital Footprint
· Once it is out, it’s almost impossible to get it back
· Get parent permission before you post anything.
Emergency Drills: For the month of January, a Fire Drill will be done as our monthly emergency drill. Please take time to talk with your students about the procedures we follow for the drill of the month. It will help reinforce the procedures as well as send the message to students that we are preparing for any type of emergency situation.
Health & Wellness Night: We have a fun-filled Wellness Night for the family that is planned for February 4thfrom 6:30 – 8:00pm. There will be some fun activities for the kids and a speaker, Georgia Anderson, who will share with parents “How to coach your kids through BIG emotions.” Save the date! PTA MEET AND TREAT:
Have you ever wondered what happens at a PTA Board meeting? Does getting involved seem scary? Are you considering volunteering for a position next year? Would you be interested in shadowing a specific role to see if you are interested?
Come to a “Meet and Treat”on FEBRUARY 5that 11:30amin the Conference Room.
We will answer all your questions about any program or position you may be interested in. You can also see how a board meeting works (it’s probably a lot more relaxed and fun than you think!)
