Homework Policy

Quail Hollow teachers and staff view homework as an important part of a student’s education. As a school, our homework policy is built upon the following beliefs: Homework encourages student responsibility. Homework helps students develop regular study habits. Homework needs to be meaningful and relevant to the curriculum. Most homework should be application of previously introduced concepts which can be completed by independent effort. Homework is an opportunity for parents and teachers to be partners in their student’s education. Parents should help students set up a designated time and place for routine homework study.
At Quail Hollow Elementary, all teachers in first through sixth grades will give homework. As a general guide, it will be assigned four days a week and the duration will be approximately ten minutes per night per grade level. Students will be held accountable for doing homework and it will be reflected in their grades.
